Parent Forum

At Derby Moor Spencer Academy, we are committed to working in genuine partnership with parents and carers. We believe that strong links between home and school help our students to thrive both academically and personally. Research shows that when parents are actively involved in school life, children achieve more, behave better and feel better supported.

Although the Parent Forum has no statutory powers, it plays an important role in giving parents a voice and ensuring that their perspectives are considered in the academy’s on-going development. It provides a space for dialogue, collaboration and shared ideas, all of which support our commitment to continuous improvement and student success.

The Forum will focus on areas that link closely with the school’s key priorities. This includes consultation on Teaching and Learning, Homework, Behaviour and Standards, Rewards, Inclusion and raising the profile of the Academy within the wider community. Parents may also be invited to share their views the format of Parents’ Evenings, communication between school and home and opportunities to further celebrate student achievements.

Meetings are designed to be constructive and supportive. While broad themes and whole-school issues are discussed, the Forum is not the place to raise concerns about individual students, parents or staff. These should always be directed to the appropriate teacher or school leader. To ensure respectful and productive discussion, parents and carers are kindly asked to follow the guidance of the Chair, respect confidentiality and keep to the agreed agenda.

We will be in touch later in the term to see if you would like to attend the next Parent Forum.

We look forward to hearing your views.
