Our school operates a compulsory dress code which all students must follow. The uniform is based on a simple theme of plain black and white. It is designed to:
- Be practical, affordable, and easily available.
- Support inclusivity, allowing for cultural dress where appropriate.
- Promote a strong sense of school identity and pride.
Uniform
School Blazer: Plain black with school badge – Must be worn at all times.
Trousers: Tailored, loose-fitting, covering the ankle.
- No skinny fit, leggings, jeans, stretchy fabrics, including lycra or elastane.
- No visible buttons or zips.
- Black or grey belt permitted.
- Parents/Carers should check purchases carefully, as some items from uniform retailers do not meet expectations.
Skirts: Plain black, knee to mid-calf length. No tight-fitting or “tube” skirts.
Shirt/Blouse: Plain white, long or short sleeves, with collar and fastening top button, suitable for a school tie. Shirts must be tucked in.
Tie: Black with house-colour diagonal stripe (clip-on).
Lanyard: Year group lanyard must be worn and visible.
Jumper: Plain black V-neck, with school badge.
Shalwar: Plain black cotton, narrow tapered trousers.
Kameez: Plain black cotton, straight line, mid-calf length, round neck, long/short sleeves – Must be worn with school blazer.
Scarf/Chuni/Duppatta/Hijab: Plain black or plain white cotton.
Socks: Black or grey.
Tights: Black or neutral.
Footwear: Flat, plain black polishable shoes with sturdy sole. No logos, suede, or trainers, except for PE or sporting activities during social times.
Outerwear: Sensible coats encouraged. Outerwear must not be worn inside school.
Hats: Plain black wool hat for winter or plain black/white cap with no logos for summer. Hats may only be worn outside.
Students not in correct uniform will be removed from the main body of the school until parental contact has been made and a solution agreed.
PE Kit for Girls and Boys
Compulsory:
- Collared black polo shirt with house-colour panel and school logo or plain black, unbranded T-shirt for indoor lessons.
- Black long-sleeve shirt with house-colour panel and school logo or plain black, unbranded T-shirt for outdoor lessons.
- Plain black football socks.
- Training shoes with non-marking soles – Canvas trainers/pumps are not allowed
- Plain black tracksuit bottoms.
- Sports Leggings are acceptable – These must be sport and not cotton.
- Not permitted: Cycling shorts and hoodies, Flared Leggings
Optional:
- Plain black tracksuit with school logo.
- Plain black shorts.
- Shin pads.
- Layers in winter are allowed underneath the Derby Moor PE top – Sports jackets / base layer tops are advised.
- Football boots for the ATP – No metal studs.
- Grip socks may be worn for trampolining, gymnastics, or dance.
Please note:
- Students will be asked to remove all footwear and socks for lessons in Dance studio / Gymnasium.
- Students must bring kit even if injured / unable to participate; alternative roles (e.g. coach, scorer) will be assigned.
- Long hair must be tied back with hair ties/bobbles provided by students.
Jewellery
Our first consideration is the safety of our students. The wearing of certain jewellery can be a danger to themselves or to others, e.g. heavy chains, bracelets, medallions or sovereign rings.
- The school reserves the right to request any student to remove jewellery which we believe could cause injury to themselves or others.
- Nose rings and nose studs are not allowed.
- Ear-rings: Students may only wear one small, solid stud per ear. They must be removed during P.E. sessions.
- No other form of body piercing is allowed in school.
- The steel bangle worn by members of our Sikh Community has a religious significance. It should be as small and light as possible for safety reasons. No other type of bracelet should be worn.
- No rings are allowed and no visible necklaces.
We encourage students not to bring items of value to school for obvious reasons and jewellery often falls into this category.
Make-up, Nail Varnish and Perfume
The wearing of make-up, tinted lip balm and nail varnish is not allowed. False/Acrylic type nails are not permitted. Bottles of perfume are not to be brought into school.
Hair
Hair must be worn in an appropriate style, and should be of one natural colour. Hair styles and patterning which could be deemed offensive are not permitted.
Equipment
It is vital that all students are equipped with the correct tools to support their learning. Under no circumstances should a student be sent to school without the following:
- A bag which is large enough to carry a folder if necessary.
- A pencil case which contains a pen, pencil and ruler.
- A school planner – These will be issued to students on the first day of term.
We want our students to be fully prepared to learn and are sure that you will be fully supportive of us on this matter.
Bike Helmets
All students who ride cycles to school are expected to wear a helmet.
